PROGRAM 2012

ABOUT SWEUTSCHLAND
All participants, staff, fishermen and DJs are equal on this hedonistic-techno-hippie-wannabe-nation, experimenting with an ideal way of living together. Coming from all over the world, these like-minded “citizens” create spontaneous social playgrounds for self-realization and other not-so-serious activities with the aim of inspiring to a more positive attitude towards “real” life. The Secret Island Nation Festival now goes into its 8th year and is strictly limited to 500 attendants to maintain the intense family-like vibe. As there is literally nothing except rocks and beach on this island, the whole camp and soundsystems are being built in a great team effort from scratch. All staff, including DJs, are volunteers, working and playing for free.

PROGRAM
Yes, there is a lot of music and dancing, but we have the opportunity to create much more than a “normal” party. Join in for one week of social challenge and a lot of fun in the beautiful archipelago of western Sweden. You are most welcome to contribute with your ideas for workshops, creative activities and entertainment!

GOOD TO KNOW ALLEMANSRÄTTEN (“Jedermannsrecht”)
“Allemansrätten” is an amazing right in Sweden that allows everybody to enjoy nature regardless the ownership. One is allowed to camp, make fire, pick fruits etc – everywhere in Sweden! This only works as long as no one is disturbed and the nature is left like it was before – “leave no trace”. Due to this law it is possible to be on Secret Island. We are guests of the nature and shall respect it to the fullest. This means for us: we leave Secret Island CLEANER than it was before! Don’t drop a single cigarette butt, encourage the other citizens to collect all their waste and bring the garbage to our waste disposals. This has worked very well during the last years and we have even received positive local press about “Techno-Germans” being very mindful about Allemansrätten – and therefore we are welcome back. Help us keeping it that way please!

WEATHER
Secret Island is situated at the most exposed spot of the West coast of Sweden. Regardless the weather report, the weather is changing everyday. It may rain in Havstenssund 500m away but not in the archipelago – et vice versa. Expect daily changes and be prepared for everything. It’s rough, it’s real nature, “nix für Schönwetterraver”

FOOD & DRINKS
Les Chefs have homemade food twice a day, seriously great stuff for prices ranging from 4-8 EUR, depending on the food. And from the locals BBQ stuff, shrimp plates, fish….and lovely breakfast menue. And then the Kaos Kiosk with basic stuff, tea and coffee in the chill area. Everything Berlin prices, i.e. an ice cold German tap beer 40cl is 30kr and tap drinking water is for free.

WHAT TO BRING
- Bring sunscreen or even sunblocker – we are all sunburnt already! Anti mosquito stuff for when there is no wind at night. – Good shoes, there are plenty of sharp shells, don’t walk barefooted! – Not only seals but also a huge whale has been spotted! – Bring a lot of cigarettes or tobacco – our supply always tends to be too low, no matter how many cigarettes we buy. – Don’t forget your passport or ID!
